Intro 2 Cheer Coaching Course - September 2011
Intro 2 Cheer Coaching is a brand new introductory course for coaches new to the Irish spirit industry. The course has been designed to help coaches set solid foundations when starting their own clubs and coaching teams.
The first session was held in Galway, September 2011 with coaches from Ace High, North Dublin Wildcats, Galway City Cougars and Silverstar. All coaches were instructed about the whole industry and what is stands for, who and what are the IASF rules, where and how to go obtaining adequate insurance etc...
Part 2 in the day was how to successful implement your cheerleading fundamentals. Tips and ideas for cheer specific warm up/cool down and conditions and all drills from motions to jumps. Choreography also covered.
Part 3 is basic stunting and tumbling technique (using IASF Level 1/2). The ICSA provides a demonstration team where you can physically see what each skill is meant to look like and then you get your turn to get involved in coaching some skills with the other participants and the demo team. Safety is paramount in this section, so all coaches do get an indepth talk about how easily mistakes can happen in each skill and how you as a coach can quickly and safely rectify the skill.
The day finishes with a written exam and your practical exam is continual assessment throughout the course.
